Using Excel to analyze MINT+ data from Query Builder

Excel becomes a powerful tool for analysis and visualization when exporting MINT+ data from a curated Query Builder. This dataset includes detailed event information like meeting names, locations, dates, room bookings, attendance, and contact details. With 500 rows (the export maximum), Excel enables users to slice and dice this information to uncover key insights.

To start, use filters or pivot tables to organize the data. This is especially helpful if you are going to look for a specific set of information, or if you are prepping your data to create a visualization.

• Example: If you are trying to fill a need period in the middle of August, you can run a query for that month, then take the export and sort those meetings on Booking Start Date to find meetings that occur in the middle of August and are within your peak rooms contracted range.

Next, charts help bring the data to life and lets us easily understand the story behind the wall of data we receive from the export. A line chart can visualize booking trends over time, while a bar chart might compare peak rooms contracted across different states. We could also use this MINT+ data to better understand the meetings that are coming out of competitive set cities. Create a visualization to see where organizations that meet in your competitive set cities are found (or market segments of those organizations). If you know a little bit of coding, you can push this even further by automating these processes.

• Example: You are based in Missouri and look up all the meetings that have met in Missouri that MINT+ knows about and then create a graph that shows the count of what states those organizations are located in. See the visualization below.
