The time has come to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) — which is observed May 19-25, 2024.
We at Simpleview welcome any opportunity to recognize the importance of the industry we know and love. It’s not all about the numbers … but this wouldn’t be a Simpleview blog without data. According to the U.S. Travel Association:
-
Travel is a $2.8 trillion industry that supports nearly 15 million American jobs
-
Last year, travel spending left a $2.8 trillion economic footprint on the U.S. economy
-
Travel represents 2.5% of U.S. GDP and serves as a top export for our nation
-
Travel generated $89 billion in state and local tax revenue to support essential services, like education, emergency response, public safety, and more
In addition to the indisputable facts and figures behind tourism, there is an emotionally gripping component of travel that we cannot ignore: it is good for our souls.
Whether it be exploring stunning scenery, experiencing diverse cultures, or making lifelong memories with new and old friends — travel leaves a lasting impression.
We asked two Simpleview veterans to reflect on what travel means to them. Although the adventures of Chris George, Senior Advisor, Product Marketing, and Carissa Leitner, Director of Growth, may differ in destinations — they share a common theme: travel has a broad, meaningful, and impactful reach (and it’s worth celebrating!)
Don’t miss out on unique ideas like this.
