Last week, I was lucky enough to go to the Simpleview Summit in Houston, Texas, a huge annual event that’s attended by Simpleview clients from across the US. There were almost 1,000 delegates present and — for each and every one — Summit offered a unique opportunity to network with industry professionals and to learn more about Simpleview’s new products and services as well as industry-led technology and trends. As an event, our gathering in Houston demonstrates how Simpleview cares about the onward success of the destinations we work with and how that spirit of collaboration moves us along as an industry.

Taking inspiration from this sense of forward motion, here are five reasons why you should be looking ahead to the Simpleview European Summit in Liverpool on 12th-14th September.

  1. Continuous professional development (AKA CPD)
At its core, our European Summit will be an opportunity for professional development. With presentations on topics such as the future of destination marketing, accessibility, and sustainability along with breakout sessions covering Simpleview products and services — GA4, User Generated Content, and SEO, to name just a few — there really is something for all levels and specialisms.  For anyone accessing training budgets in order to take part in our European Summit, we can also provide a certificate of attendance.
  2. Networking
There will be loads of opportunities to share ideas and best practice with industry peers during regular coffee breaks and scheduled networking breaks. At Simpleview Europe, we’ve recently started piloting virtual focus groups to bring DMOs together with a view to sharing their current challenges and successes with their peers. These have proved to be exceptionally beneficial for our clients and our European Summit will be an opportunity for our destination partners to do this in a face-to-face atmosphere.
  3. Social
A full social calendar has also been planned with a welcome drinks reception, sunrise yoga, and a gala dinner and awards ceremony, including a tour, in the iconic Royal Liver Building.
  4. Recovery
It's fair to say that as an industry, we’re still recovering from the devastating impact of COVID-19 and we all have a role to play in the sector’s greater revival.  Just think: by the act of attending this Summit, you’re helping to make live, in-person events the norm once more.
  5. Liverpool
I attended university in Liverpool and started my career there almost 20 years ago and I’m always excited to go back and see how the city has changed and grown. If you’ve not been before, I’d highly recommend trying to add an extra night or two on to your stay to explore everything that this historical and culturally-rich city has to offer.  If you’re in need of inspiration, check out the new Visit Liverpool website
