Hot off the press!

See how your DMO's third-quarter performance compared to other DMOs of your size and region in the new Simpleview Sales Quarterly report. The report looks back at the third quarter of 2022 and looks forward at the health of the DMO’s critical pipeline.

Some Q3 highlights:

  • Lead volume has improved to 98% of 2019 volume, while lead room nights are further behind with 77% of 2019, suggesting smaller events in the pipeline.
  • The number of bookings is 73% of 2019’s bookings and has slowly improved quarter over quarter. Booked room nights are 77% of 2019 and, unlike bookings, has lost ground since Q1 of 2022.
  • For convention center events, compared to 2019, the average lead peak rooms generated in 2022 have decreased by 11%, and the average booked peak rooms have decreased by 18%, again pointing to smaller room blocks.
  • When comparing the number of hotel meeting leads in the pipeline, there are over 2,300 more for Q4 of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019, underlying a high degree of short-term opportunities. However, for 2023, we have 3,000 fewer hotel meeting leads compared to the same period in 2019, which presents some cause for concern.
  • Hotel meeting leads grew in the top two market segments through September 2022. Health, Medical and Pharmaceutical grew by 2.8% and Meetings, Conventions and Tourism Industry events grew by 1.5% through September 2022. Sports leads continued to be a strong market segment (#3) for convention center events through September 2022, growing 3% compared to 2019’s pipeline.

To make it easy for you to find the information directly comparable to your destination, we’ve presented data by DMO region and size, as measured by the gross square feet (GSF) of exhibit space in convention centers. We use the widely accepted benchmark of 2019.
