Support. Promote. Commemorate. Celebrate. Honor. Recognize.

Think of these six words as the backbone of Black History Month — a time used to focus on supporting, promoting, commemorating, celebrating, honoring, and recognizing the deep roots of Black culture in America. Destination marketing organizations (DMOs) nationwide are finding unique ways to do just that throughout February.

In the words of Nigerian-born speaker and author Ola Joseph, “Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s uniqueness.” Take this opportunity to ask yourself how you can celebrate diversity and Black heritage not only for Black History Month but year-round in your destination.

Here’s a social media round-up of eight DMOs that are shining a spotlight on Black history in ways that both locals and visitors can enjoy.
