The perfect blend of town and country, Surrey’s contrasts are part of its appeal. Whether you want to explore its famous rolling hills and striking gardens or make the most of its historic towns and villages, the allure of this county is hard to resist. Thanks to Visit Surrey’s newly launched website, visitors — whatever they like, whatever they seek — can find true delight in the region’s endless diversity.
A Place of Charming Contrasts
Located under half an hour from central London, the Surrey landscape offers a true respite from the city. As the most wooded county in England, it is home to the Surrey Hills National Landscape — a region that stretches from Farnham in the west to Oxted in the East — as well as to multiple parks, gardens, and green spaces. After all, the beautifully manicured grounds of Hampton Court Palace, the sprawling RHS Wisley, and the award-winning vineyards of the Surrey Hills are all to be found within the bounds of the historic county of Surrey. As for its towns, Epsom, Guildford, Dorking, and Kingston-upon-Thames all offer top-notch opportunities for shopping and dining while the villages of Farnham, Shere, Cranleigh, and Reigate all give visitors a chance to get closer to the area’s rich and deep history.
Supporting a Successful Migration Process
Backed by Simpleview CMS, Visit Surrey’s new website now enables the DMO to display all the county offers to great effect. But for Chris Howard, Chair of Visit Surrey, one of the things that was truly remarkable about the recent launch of the new site was the manner in which Simpleview accommodated the DMO’s operations as a Community Interest Group (CIC).
As an organisation with CIC status, the development of tourism and the onward promotion of the county as a visitor destination is undertaken for the collective good and is a process which involves oversight and input from multiple stakeholders. Commenting on this aspect of the build, she said that Simpleview was, “... incredibly patient and supportive as we went through the process of working with our local authority partners and board members in the lead up to the decision to move to the new platform.”
Following the successful migration of content from the DMO’s former platform, the new site for Visit Surrey was finally launched in November 2023. Offering her remarks on the debut, Chris said, “I am thrilled with the new website developed by Simpleview. Their staff have been a pleasure to work with and kept us informed about progress at every stage … I cannot recommend them highly enough.”
