In recent episodes of The Layover Live we’ve covered how to create engaging content for social media, email marketing, video, UGC and more. One medium that we haven’t mentioned much about, but one that DMOs should certainly consider, is audio.
Audio is also a powerful, timely medium, and has recently become one of the top mainstream sources to consume content. In fact, according to Edison Research, more than ⅓ of the U.S. population has listened to a podcast in the last month. But when we talk about the power of audio it doesn’t begin and end with podcasting. There are other ways to leverage audio including advertising on sites like Pandora, Spotify, creating music playlists and live streaming local performances.
This week, I joined Jason on The Layover Live to talk about the power of audio and why audio and podcasts should be a part of DMO’s content marketing strategy. We discussed what types of audio marketing DMOs should consider, shared examples of DMOs currently doing a great job with audio marketing, and talked about some things you should consider when starting a podcast.
