Earlier this month, we unveiled the second edition of our State of DMO Search report. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re excited to continue to share our knowledge and insights with the rest of the industry.
For those of you that don’t know, the State of DMO Search is a comprehensive overview of current research, theory, and best practices for search engine optimization as it pertains to destination marketing organizations, specifically. Reading it should help any destination marketer understand what the opportunities and challenges for SEO are, and gain at least a basic understanding of how to earn top rankings for high-volume keywords in the niches important to this industry.
For this edition, we’ve edited and updated everything, completed new research and added sections addressing the hot button topics in SEO this year. Some highlights include:
- VOICE SEARCH: The industry has gone through a number of topics du jour in my decade-plus working in it, and this would have to be the one for 2019.
- ALGORITHM UPDATES: We’ve added a brand new section called Algorithm Updates to cover the plethora of 2019 Google algorithm updates, summarize the major ones from past years, and provide a home for discussion of the new ones sure to come soon.
- DOMAINS: Choosing and setting up the right domain is one of the fundamental pieces of building a successful website, so we dedicated an entire section to the effects of changing your domain.
