What Is the Google Penguin Update?
Penguin is an addition to the Google search ranking algorithm that is intended to automate and scale the detection and penalizing of sites that appear to be attempting to manipulate search results through backlinking practices that violate Google’s guidelines.
Google to Boost Mobile-Friendly Algorithm in May!
Google announced on the Webmaster blog that they are going to be boosting the effects of the mobile-friendly algorithm they launched back on April 21, 2015.
Google Launches New Data Tools for Marketers
Online advertising giant Google unveiled a new suite of marketing analytics and data products on Tuesday. The offering, the Google Analytics 360 Suite, will compete with similar marketing “cloud” solutions offered by companies such as Adobe, Oracle, Salesforce and IBM.
What Your SEO Needs to Know:
Penguin Updates: Google Penguin was first rolled out in 2012 and this update has been on the back burner for a considerable amount of time. This particular update to the algorithm will now automate and scale the deletion of sites considered to be toxic and attempting to manipulate search results by black hat back-linking practices (that is, illegitimate activities designed to subvert the purpose of Google’s algorithms).
Mobile Boosting: In May Google will be boosting the effects of the mobile-friendly algorithm. This is the same algorithm that caused many to panic. See "Mobilegeddon."
Google 360: Google is launching several new programs called the Analytics 360 suite which is a “cloud” marketing product that will compete with solutions already on the market by Adobe, Oracle, Salesforce, and IBM.
How does it affect your business?
Penguin Updates: Unlike previous Penguin updates, this one will make Penguin "real-time" meaning that recoveries will be able to occur at any time not have to wait for major updates to roll out. This allows pages and sites to bounce back and recover lost ranking or authority which was lost due to penalization.
Mobile Boosting: For those who already have responsive or mobile sites, the updates to the mobile-friendly algorithm will not affect you at all. This update is going to be rolled out very slowly, and as it crawls more mobile-friendly sites, the non-mobile-friendly sites will be gradually pushed out of the mobile search results.
Google 360: Google is rolling out new their new products while keeping marketers in mind, and will allow for much wider integration possibilities for consumers of third-party data.
