Facebook tracking code is completely changing, which means the clock is ticking to update your code. Having recently announced that they are deprecating and quickly ending support for their old tracking snippets and methods, Facebook is now replacing them with a completely new, but more flexible single code base. According to Facebook, "The conversion tracking pixel will no longer be supported after October 15 and will be no longer be available for use by February 2017". That's pretty fast, but then again, Facebook doesn't feel they need to ask us for a timeline.

If you don't want to lose the crucial insights that you can gain on your social campaigns from Facebook conversion tracking, it's time to update your code. Fortunately for most installs, it is not very difficult to do. Simply log into facebook, navigate here, and click the green button that says 'Use the Facebook Pixel'.

Or go straight to the new code here. Now all that is left for basic Facebook tracking is to get the new code under actions.

Once you have the new pixel in place, I recommend you utilize the Google Chrome extension Facebook Pixel Helper, to ensure all of your Facebook scripts work. Your old pixels using "_fbq.push()" will show here, too, however the tool does not indicate the code version as of this writing.

Be sure to keep it in a plain text document after you copy it (or email it), as word processors and other editors such as Microsoft Word tend to 'fix' your code...and that is definitely not a good thing!

The good news is we are here to help. If you would like Simpleview to place it for you, just attach your new .txt file to a ticket and send it to your Account Manager. Or, if your Facebook tag is in Google tag manager (or some other tag management system), you can simply update the code yourself. Either way, we are happy to assist.
