Situation

The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) agreed with our approach to develop a new website concept and began the process with our team, weaving in the latest technology with a creative flair. They specifically wanted the ability to showcase photography of their city in new ways, as well as add functionality to their events calendar. However, they also wanted to show how playful and fun the city is, as Omaha has some of the largest sporting events and music festivals in the United States.

Solution

Simpleview took a collaborative approach with the Omaha CVB's team, as hey developed guidelines and several meetings to come up with a vibrant site plan and color scheme. This included developing a customizable paint palette tool, allowing visitors to "let their inner artist out" and change the site's color scheme as they want. Image-rich widgets were created to accentuate specific city events or special offers from the CVB partners' attractions, such as the annual NCAA College World Series.

Simpleview also provided organic search engine optimization (SEO) services for the visitors bureau, helping them to receive first page rankings for terms such as "Omaha hotels" on Google, Yahoo!, Bing and other services, placing them above TripAdvisor and other major travel and tourism sites.

Results

According to Kerri Straub, Technology Services Manager for the Omaha CVB, the investment to redesign their website's look and functionality has helped with their marketing efforts on several fronts. Not only are visitors raving about the new design, they can easily find information about Omaha through search engines. Partners are also happy about their events being prominently featured through the new widgets.
