Situation

Utah Valley includes over twenty towns that offer everything from museums and festivals, to universities, outdoor adventures, and so much more. As the official destination marketing organization for Utah Valley, the Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) was presented with the opportunity to not only redesign their website, but provide visitors an interactive tool that represents the destination's endless offerings through an organic and natural design.

Solution

The Utah Valley CVB elected for Simpleview's website build team to visit their destination for a few days of meetings and exploring. While on-site, the CVB staff hosted Simpleview for a familiarization (FAM) tour of the area, which allowed the website build team to experience the destination themselves, just as a visitor would. This element provided a unique set of details; such as speaking with locals, experiencing natural elements, and discovering what makes the area so special, which played a vital role in the success of the website's design.

One of the CVB's goals for the redesign was to showcase a variety of things a visitor could experience within the many towns in Utah Valley. Simpleview's solution included a "Choose Your Experience" widget that is displayed throughout the website, and connects visitors with activities that best fit their interests. For example, the "Family Vacationer" might choose to check out the Museum of Natural Curiosity, while the "Nature Lover" may be more inclined to visit Bridal Veil Falls. Regardless of interests, this easy-to-use widget finds something to do for any visitor.

Results

Outside Magazine named Utah Valley the second greatest place to live in the United States, and the freshly redesigned website does a great job of showcasing why. Whether you're watching the promotional video that shows you a glimpse of what makes Utah Valley so unique, reading the latest blog post via the blog widget, or scrolling through some of the breathtaking images in the media gallery, utahvalley.com is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression for any visitor.
