"There's a new head honcho in town for Monterey County's tourism industry.

Tammy Blount took over as chief executive of the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau on Wednesday.

"My mandate is to bring more business," said Blount, who came from the Tacoma (Wash.) Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau, where she also held the top job."
