Roughly 900 destination marketing professionals from around the world are gathering in Tucson, AZ, this week for the company's largest-ever signature annual event.

TUCSON, Ariz. (April 4, 2017) - As the travel and tourism industry gears up to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day on April 6, Tucson-based Simpleview, the world leader in digital destination marketing, kicks off its own signature meeting: the 12th annual Simpleview Summit, with 650+ customers traveling to Tucson for this year's largest-ever event.

Meetings are big business in travel. Meeting Professionals International, the leading industry association for the segment, reports that exhibitions, conferences and like events contribute more to the US GDP than the film or recording industries or spectator sports: some $393 billion through direct spending as well as indirect and induced impacts. That sum translates into nearly $15 billion federal tax revenue, $13.2 billion state and local tax revenue, 1.8 million jobs and $66.8 billion in labor income.

Simpleview Summit has contributed its share to those numbers since its launch in 2006 -- tens of thousands of room nights and millions in combined economic impact over 12 years -- but more important are the less measurable outcomes, says the company's president and CEO Ryan George.

"Once a year we bring our customers together from around the world for training, speakers, networking -- all to build knowledge that they can then take back to their cities and countries to make this industry even stronger," George said. "Our business is completely built on the digital space, but I'm the first to tell you that for many things in business, there's no substitute for face-to-face connections."

Roughly 900 people representing eight countries will attend this year's Simpleview Summit: most of the company's 200 employees plus 57 sponsors and strategic partners from 19 organizations in addition to more than 650 guests from across Simpleview's 530+ customers. The event runs April 3 - 6 at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa. Speakers include destination marketing professionals from around the world as well as conservationist Jeff Corwin, marketing expert Scott Stratten and David Rendall, author of The Freak Factor.
